Reblogs… What Do You Think?

So I’m considering reblogging some of the posts I did when I first came back to my blog in 2011.  I’m not sure how I feel about it.  I’ve been in a bit of a slump lately — some of the things I want to post on will take some significant research time that I just can’t commit to right now.  So reblogging would fill that void a little.  Also, many of the people who follow my blog now weren’t following it a year ago — they might not be familiar with those earlier posts.

I’m honestly interested in your perspective — I won’t be offended either way.  So what do you think?  Is it worth reposting some of those articles, or is reblogging your own material a little tacky?

  1. Haha! I could have written what you just wrote, as I recently went through the same feelings/situation. I was not sure of blogging etiquette and did not want to violate some unspoken blog rule. But I decided to re-blog and recently re-blogged a couple things. So, I say re-blog. New readers will read it for the 1st time, and old readers will get a refresher or can just skip it.

  2. I have mixed feelings. For me, personally, I would probably enjoy the “new” postings since I’ve only been following for a few months. But reblogging posts from just a year ago … not so sure it’s a good idea. Two years or more, maybe. For those who HAVE been regular followers, it may be too many repeats. If you plan to add to or modify them, that might help. Just my opinion.

  3. I have re-blogged occasionally, if I think there is a reason to re-present the ideas. I think if you say it’s a re-post, and you check it through and update it if necessary to reflect where you’re at now, then it’s fine.

  4. I agree with unklee. I haven’t been following your blog since the beginning, so it might be an insightful journey to read where you came from (so to speak). I’ve found when I’ve read over some of my older posts that it might be interesting to re-post a few of them with some updates or additional insight that a year or more’s growth might provide.

  7. No, I say do it!

I reblogged several of my own articles at Grow Up! from previous blogs I had kept in the past. I found the we’re actually some of my better works. Which really isn’t saying much. 🙂

  8. Nate, I would enjoy a rebloging of sorts. I’ve missed many of your posts and haven’t taken the time to read back through your blog as I would like to. I think a group of ‘re posts’ that covers your deconversion time would be most benificial to your blog and its newer readers. I saw in one of your comments that you mentioned having close to 60 written pages of your reasons for doubting the bible and your deconversion. I personally would love to have a copy of that to study over. I realize you couldn’t post all of that material but would love any kind of email or other electronic copy of it you could share with me.

  9. Thanks to everyone who’s left a comment. I’m currently working on a post that is a little more personal in nature and covers the timeline of my deconversion. I don’t think I’ve talked about it very much yet. And I’ll either include links to my old posts within it, or post them as reblogs after it.

Matt, I’ll definitely get you a copy of that paper I wrote. Thanks for your interest in it.
