  1. From the article: “If we found out that a law was going to discriminate against an entire group of people, we’d be mad enough. But if we found out that law was based in someone’s religious belief, that would cause all of us to slam on the brakes.”

Let’s talk Sharia Law. No one in the U.S. would ever want it to become part of our culture … yet isn’t this exactly why non-believers don’t want Christian activities / beliefs / practices / demonstrations to be the “law of the land?” Granted, Christian beliefs are nowhere as radical, but in principle, isn’t it all the same?

  2. Thanks for sharing this! Sanders comes across as more authentic and sincere to me than “I was born and raised a [denomination]ist” and “I love God!” He respects religion enough to not exploit it, and that might be the most God-fearing thing I’ve seen anyone do this campaign season.

  3. Sanders refusal to let his religious beliefs be an issue really impressed me. I can really sense his passion for the real issues we are facing.

  4. Thank you for posting this article. I am so glad to see people speaking up, raising awareness and challenging the status quo. That is the direction I am moving. Most of the atheists I know are kind, good, intelligent people, who just don’t happen to believe in the supernatural. They want liberty and equality for ALL people, regardless of race, gender, orientation, religion or lack thereof. It’s high time the secular community raised its voice. It’s a far larger percentage of America than anyone imagines we need to be recognized as such…and heard.

Lou, I think you’d find a sizable Christian population that would want that too. We’re just drowned out by the zealots and pharisees. Acceptance doesn’t make for good media.
