Today marks 10 years since I started this blog! I had planned to do a big post in commemoration — maybe talk about some of the first posts I wrote and call attention to all the commenters who have helped make this blog so interesting over the years. Sadly, I didn’t have time to pull all that together, but I hated to let the day go by without saying something.
So to those of you who have been following along, thank you! Blogging has been far more important to me than I ever could have imagined when I first started. I’ve learned many things, I’ve grown as a person, and I’ve made several very real friendships through this blog. I’m proud of the 10 years that we’ve shared to this point, and I hope that we have many more. Thanks, guys. 🙂
Happy Anniversary Nate !
I have learned much from your blog. Great Job !

I feel the same way about blogging — how it’s impacted my life, and the wonderful friendships I made. Congratulations, Nate. You’re incredibly respected in the blog-o-sphere.

I tried to find an appropriate Hendrix song for you but this one by The Years After seemed more relevent.

Congratulations Nate! Ten years is awesome! I haven’t been blogging long, and I truly never thought I’d want to be a blogger. But I echo your post about how it has helped me grow as a person and make new friends. All good stuff!

And Ark, you couldn’t have picked a better song. I’d actually never heard that one before — thanks for sharing! 🙂

My pleasure! Ten Years After were a great band.( In their original form) Sadly, guitarist Alvin Lee passed away a while back.

Love the opening line from this song:
”Never really understood religion,
Except it seemed a good excuse to kill.”

Congrats Nate! 10 years is a big deal for a blog. So many die away so quickly. I’ve always appreciated the tone you set on your blog. Your blog was one of the ones that motivated me to start blogging instead of just lurking. (oh, and thanks for adding the addiction of xbox-Destiny to my life. 😉 )

Well this has me considering religion again – your 10 year anniversary falls on the biggest super moon in 70 years.
There’s no such thing as coincidence, this means something!
but in case it’s just random chance, I’ll just say congratulations and move along

Considering how many gods there are, I will be surprised if the bill ever makes it to the table, let alone ever being passed by the ‘House’.

Congrats Nate. Your blog is hands-down my favorite. Probably because it is more like a forum than a blog and so many interesting discussions have emerged from your well-thought-out posts.

Wow! Ten years!!??! That’s a long time and a lot of words.
So glad I came across your blog a few years back. You’ve written some great posts — many of which have triggered some (very) lively discussions. I’ve learned, laughed, and (ofttimes) lauded the patience you’ve shown with some of the contributors.
Looking forward to more … more … more!
Oh, and Congrats! 🙂

Howie, I didn’t know that I helped in a small part to bring you toward blogging — that’s awesome! Your blog has always been one my favorites as well, as you know. And there’s no one I’d rather play some Destiny with 😉
Dave, thanks for such a kind compliment! I totally agree with you that the conversations here are the most rewarding part. And for what it’s worth, you tend to write some of my favorite comments.
Thanks Nan. I’m glad we connected a few years ago, too! The conversations have been great, and I’m looking forward to many more. 🙂

Congratulations, Nate!
Your blog has been a source of tremendous encouragement and a place of refuge whenever I feel exhausted and beat up in my debates with conservative Christians. After chatting with my non-theist friends here, I feel a surge of renewed energy to continue the battle against fear-base superstitions; fear-based belief systems that have caused so much harm and terrify so many people in our world today.
I’m sure I am not alone in feeling that your blog is a place of “refuge”.
You and your blog are making a difference in the world! Keep up the good work!

Congrats Nate. Your blog is among the first places that I summoned the courage to partake in the conversation as a deconvert. Thanks for being part of that journey.

Nate I really appreciate your blog. I value the considered way you evaluate and respond to contrary arguments. I see you as a beacon for civil discussion with those of differing views, something which is too rare in the blogosphere.
Not that I can ever recall disagreeing with you on a single point you have ever made. Your blog is to me a real highlight of the internet. I just hope you are able to continue as your opinion is always one to be valued.
On a minor note, I also have found your guide to formatting comments very helpful.
I do have a question though – have you considered allowing nested comments to allow for separate discussion threads?
