Kathy Part 5

After breaking 1000 comments on the previous thread, I felt it was a good time to start another.

As a reminder, here are some of the most recent outstanding questions for Kathy:

From Laurie:

You said you answered my questions, and wish more questions were asked. Here are some questions that were not addressed.

Matt 23:8 read first

Philemon 1:10
1 Corinthians 4:14-17
1 Corinthians 12:27
2 Timothy 1:11
1 Timothy 2:7
Ephesians 4:11,12

Why is it that messiah says not to be called rabbi or father, but Paul it’s not obedient to this command?

Matt 10:7,8

1 Timothy 5:17,18
1 Corinthians 9:11,12

Messiah says here that he had given freely, go and freely give. Again, Paul is disobedient.

Matt 18:15

Galatians 2:11-14

Messiah said that if you have a problem with your brother, you should deal with it privately. Here Paul lashes out at Peter “before them all”.

Matt 9:10-12

2 Thessalonians 3:6,7

Yahusha said in the passage above that he came to call the sinner to repentance, not the righteous. Why would Paul want to separate from those that actually need him?

From William:

the “evidences” you listed arent real evidences. And since you refuse to look at things that are counter to your current beliefs, how can you honestly speak to me about evidences?

here’s all I’ve seen you provide:

1) martyrs, even though every religion and many non-religions have them.

2) our very existence – which no one knows how that started, but even if you must land on god(s), you must go back to that book of claims to get to jesus.

3) there were miracles, but as it turns out, those dont happen today, and end up being more claims by the same men who claim they speak for god.

4) the fulfilled prophecies we’ve discussed weren’t really prophecies at all, or had to be viewed so figuratively that it’s difficult to show anything precise about them other than location (maybe) in order to claim they’re actually fulfilled.

5) 40 authors taking 1500 years to write the bible. But there’s nothing miraculous about men writing books, editing books, and being inspired to write a book or letter after reading an older book.

In addition to these, I’d like to ask something of both Kathy and Laurie (Matt or Hayden or portal001 (Ryan) can chime in as well):

The Bible defines God as being all-loving, all-merciful, fair, just, etc. It can also be read as promising an eternity in Hell for those who don’t serve him correctly. As a believer, how do you square those two statements?

  1. Ruth,

If you truly cared about those things, you’d be interested in getting at the truth of what is causing those problems. Do you think making unsupported claims about me is getting at the truth? Just picture a lawyer making your points/ arguments in a trial. You don’t understand what is important, it seems you only care about being right. And that IS THE problem with liberals/ the liberal minded.. again, it’s about preserving your pride & ego BEFORE anything else… like getting to the truth/ cause of the problems that are negatively affecting those things you claim you care about. Your entire comment does absolutely nothing to address the issues. And, yet again, contains nothing of evidence to back up your claims.

This really did make me laugh out loud!

    Aye, Ron and Laurie. Aye!

  2. Laurie,

Yup! Me too! I really do have things I should be doing, lol! I have to get back on the horse, and finish tiling my bathroom.

Wait, you have a horse? and you ride it to do your tiling? there’s the dilemma right there,,,. horses and bathrooms don’t mix, I know from experience…like the saying goes

fool me once, shame on me, fool we twice.. something…never judge a book and um…Do not be like the cat who wanted a fish… but was afraid to get his paws wet…and never, ever jump into a um.. A goose quill is more dangerous than a lion’s claw.

That saying as a whole has saved my life more than once, so much wisdom packed into such a simple saying

    William,

    Aye 🙂

    Hey puntastic!

  3. I’m thinking about extending them as just ‘General Conversation’ posts.” – I’m fine with it – it was never about Kathy anyway, as far as I was concerned, it was about responding to comments, whoseever they were.

  4. That was great portal! 😄 thanks for the laugh! I think that must be why I hang out here so much. I get a good laugh from all of you.

And… its nice to not be attacked for what I believe, and be welcome to discuss it!

  5. Nan, I realize, from having read your book, that you’re something of an expert on Paul, so I can see why you would have an interest in a thread devoted to discussion of him, but I can envision that thread involving only you and Laurie and Brandon, commenting to each other, freeing the rest of us to do other things.

  6. ratamacue0,

I have seen this in action. It was pretty comical.

our dog used to put the electric windows down in our car to feel the air in her face. When someone locked the window she would wait a few minutes, continue to click on the button and then fart, which would force us all to open our windows. very effective 🙂

    Laurie,

    🙂

  7. Nate,

YHWH said in Deuteronomy 13 that he was going to send a false prophet to test his people.

The test was to keep his commandments.

First he sent The anointed one, who spent a great deal of his time warning about the false prophets to come. He left all the clues to figure it out. He said nothing had changed, and he upheld the Torah.

Then after he was gone the false prophet came and instituted a new religion called Christianity. He abolished God’s law, and introduced a new gospel, the gospel of grace. This is the test, will you keep his commandments?

It’s in there because YHWH said he was going to allow it. It’s His test for His people.

    In my opinion

Can I ask what kind of dog?

    she was a Maltese cross-shitsu 🙂

we went on car trips together, and as a family. like this:

but different dog, and different person, and different car.

and Laurie, I know I said I’m glad you feel welcome…but…I feel I should tell you,

I’m only going to treat you decently if you first align all your beliefs to what I believe right now.

    sooooo……..

    Just joking 🙂

    but seriously :I

  12. Arch, I’ve pretty much saïd all I’m going to on Paul. I was making the suggestion becuz he seemed to be stirring some interest. However, since then I’ve noticed that Nate already did à post on him. In fact, I even made a couple of comments, as did you. So I’m withdrawing my suggestion.
