Here’s an excellent example of exactly what we’ve been seeing here – Kathy asks a question, a commenter gives an intelligent, well thought out scientific answer, but no – that’s not good enough – she’s been doing this for years:

Where did you hear that? Here’s what the preface to the NIV says:

I could understand “sons of the gods” being changed to “angels” in the LXX as perhaps a way of updating the language, but to then change to “sons of israel” in the MT is too big a change to use your “updating the language” theory.

I couldn’t believe the questions callers had. One man asked whether any more babies would be born after the Rapture. I thought that was a good one. Another caller asked if the ‘mark of the Beast’ would be in the form of, say, a computer chip. The expert answered that the Evil One will use any technology He can to control people, but he thinks the mark will be a simple mark on the right hand or forehead of those who will miss the Rapture bus.
The final caller asked simply, “What do I have to do to get ready for the Rapture?” The answer was, basically, be a good Christian. “If you haven’t accepted Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, do it now. You must have faith for your salvation. Pray, read the Bible, love your spouse.” I guess I’m doomed – I don’t have the faith to pray or accept Jesus as my personal Lord and Savior (I love that phrase), and without doing those things I will not have faith.
I agree that it has devolved quite a bit into mud-slinging on both sides. I would have better enjoyed talking about the points without all the calling people’s integrity into question.

but I don’t think you had realized the scope of it. I had said a couple of times that smarter people than you had given Kathy all the answers she had asked for, she’s had people with many college degrees in biology, archeology, history, science, law, giving her the answers she asks for, then she accuses them of being prideful, egotistical, dishonest liberals, that their education is nothing more than liberal indoctrination, and then on to the next person asking the same questions again. hundreds of times, for years. she has no interest in any answers or truths, she just wants to be a BITCH!

Paul, I think Ryan is trying to walk what he talks. He’s one of the nicest guys on the net, and I think he really is just trying his best to live out his faith and what it means to him to be a Christian. He’s tried repeatedly to get both sides to quit the bashing to no avail.
