Kathy Part 3

Well, after breaking 2000 comments on the previous thread, I think it’s time to move to a new one. Feel free to continue the conversation here.

Also, I want to make a note about future posts. The tone on this blog for the last month or so has been decidedly different than what it used to be. While that’s definitely made things interesting, I’d like to move back to a tone more in line with the way things used to be. So going forward, I want the comments on all new posts to remain civil. We can all make our points, and I expect to see a wide range of opinions. But I don’t want to get into name-calling and bashing when we can’t all agree on particular issues. Let’s try to stay focused on the points and not get side-tracked with personal stuff. Let’s also keep each comment substantive so we don’t rack up so many comments in such a short period of time that it’s hard for everyone to keep track.

If you don’t feel like you can participate within those guidelines, then feel free to continue posting within this thread (and any future “Kathy” threads, if they’re needed), because I won’t be enforcing any guidelines here. But if you want to comment on any other posts, you’ll need to abide by the rules I just laid out. Otherwise, your comment will be subject to deletion, and after a warning, you might find yourself banned from at least that thread, if not the entire blog.

If there are any questions, let me know.

Thanks

  1. I’ll probably close this thread down in the next day or two.

But..but…this conversation discussion argument has been so productive! It’s certainly been a revelation… 🙂

  2. Good Lord, close it down.

I just perused all the crap since Friday and all the stuff i put to Kathy, the only thing she commented on was a topic she brought up regarding people dying for santa’s elves…. what a literal waste.

Maybe the comments she made to the others were more productive, but i wouldn’t know, i’ve lost the stomach for it.

To any reasonable and honest person, whether they’re christian or not, can see kathy for what she is.

  5. I hear you, arch. And it’s definitely been entertaining… I just get tired of the futility of it. I truly don’t understand Kathy’s point of view at all. I got her initial comments, because I figured she was much like I used to be: someone who was just unaware of all the issues. But she’s been given so many opportunities to better educate herself at this point, yet she’s inoculated herself with these irrational views — like saying everyone who disagrees with her is not being objective. That keeps her from considering sources that would disagree with her, which keeps her ignorant of the issues… the cycle just keeps going round and round.

I don’t usually read her replies anymore. I just find them too depressing.

  7. William – suggest you research the Roman customs of the celebration of Saturnalia, from which most of the Christmas customs were plagiarized – naked, drunken revelers ran from door to door, singing, or as it would later come to be called, “caroling” – basically any given weekend in my neighborhood. Mr. Rogers’, it ain’t —

  8. Nate, what’s “depressing” is when I confront you with questions/ points and you ignore them… and then proceed to stay with your very same views. This indicates a lack of objectivity.. it indicates that what you claim to be the “mission” of this blog, to find truth where ever it may lead, is not really the mission. It’s clear that the “mission” is to support your chosen belief(s).

    Example..

I’ve made the claim that Christianity has the most compelling evidence to support it’s claimed truth. You disagreed. I asked you to tell me which religion or belief has more compelling evidence, you avoided answering. You finally gave the answer of Buddhism. I asked why. You said because it didn’t require a “god”. I asked how that constitutes compelling evidence for the claimed truth of Buddhism. And I’ve gotten nothing since except excuses to not have to answer.

So, bottom line, you’ve never answered my question honestly. It’s a simple question. And if you were truly objective and were TRULY searching for the truth.. where ever that may lead, I wouldn’t have to put forth so much effort to get an answer to this simple question.

You say you don’t understand my view which is also puzzling because it should be clear
by now that my view is to find the truth. I’ve asked questions.. more than you or anyone else here.. that implies a search for the truth.. all you all have done is attack me disagreeing with you.

And it’s just completely dishonest to make the claim that I say that anyone who disagrees with me lacks objectivity… claiming that I don’t have an open mind. That’s nothing but a lie Nate.. again, I’ve asked questions here.. and you fail to answer them.. you fail over and over to defend your views against my valid points.. and THAT IS when I claim you lack objectivity.

I think it’s just simple honesty and true objectivity that is confusing all of you.

You all constantly make claims about me.. but when I ask for you to back up those claims using my own words, I get zero responses.

“That keeps her from considering sources that would disagree with her, which keeps her ignorant of the issues… the cycle just keeps going round and round.”

Here’s another example.. I ask you Nate, what sources am I not considering??

If you say your book recommendation, this is just more confusion or dishonesty by you.. because I’ve asked you several times to give me some examples that would support your claim that “this” book was “the one”. Simple examples from the book that will compel me to consider it… that it’s “the one”. I’ve explained very reasonably that there are hundreds if not thousands of books that support the atheist’s beliefs.. it’s clear to anyone who thinks reasonably that discernment is needed in choosing which ones to read. I’ve repeatedly asked you to give some examples and you haven’t. Instead you’ve accused me of being “afraid” of reading it. Are you kidding? No wonder you’re ending this thread. It’s clear to everyone, although no one here will admit it.

  9. And here’s some more truth..

“Destroy or be destroyed! On several occasions God told the armies of Israel to “go kill every man, woman, child, and living thing.” Those who reject God and the Bible often use these isolated cases as a basis for declaring God is a blood-thirsty monster. God did not create war, man did in his rebellion to God. However, God understood the evil of man and sadly many enemies of Israel had no desire for peace, only the complete annihilation of the children of Israel. It was literally a situation of destroy or be destroyed!

That is no different than today as Hamas and Iran have consistently stated that their desired goal is the complete destruction of Israel and that every Jew be killed! This is why the final war as human history comes to an end will be fought on the plains of Megiddo in Israel, with the armies of Israel and their allies facing off against the armies of Islam and their allies. The good news is…GOD WINS!!!

The United States is currently facing a very real enemy who seeks our destruction. That enemy is Islam who I have told you has had the stated goal since this false religion was founded 1400 years ago of taking over the entire world and turning it into an Islamic state, killing ALL who refuse to bow their knee to “allah” and convert to this satanically inspired religion that leads the souls of all who follow their lies to eternity in hell!!!

Will you please wake up and realize that this is the stated and believed goal of ALL Muslims, even those supposed “peaceful Muslims” residing in the United States! You have not heard ONE WORD of condemnation from CAIR or other Muslim apologist groups. You have not heard ONE WORD of condemnation from any of the top Imams in the United States. That is because ALL Muslims believe that one day the whole world will become an Islamic state and all pledge allegiance to allah, including the United States and those who wish to remain alive!!!

Please don’t be fooled. Whether it is ISIS, Al-Queda, AQAP, Boko-Haram, Hamas, Hezbollah, or the name of any other Islamic group, they are ALL part of Islam!

Translation from Kathy-ese – “sadly many enemies of Israel had no desire to give up their land to the invading Israelites who decided to take it from them by force. It was literally a situation of destroy or be destroyed!

The United States is currently facing a very real enemy who seeks our destruction.” – absolutely correct! Religion!

not according to the bible. It was the Israelite who were the aggressors in many cases. And i dont think god is a blood-thirsty monster. I use those isolated cases as further evidence that the god of the bible just isnt real.

If killing babies and stealing virgin girls is bad, then your god is bad. if your god is not bad, the killing babies and stealing virgin girls isnt bad. It would mean that your god is quite fickle – things are only wrong if he disapproves or not.

and thanks for the irrational warning against all muslims, but please understand, i dont think any religion is from god. I’m not an evangelical agnostic, but i do think everyone would be better off abandoning religion and acting like intelligent adults. Most muslims dont want ISIS or Al Qaeda or even the Taliban being in charge – they dont really want chrstians telling what to do either, i guess – but you could understand that since you wouldnt muslims telling you what to do.

But why do you even care if we or you get killed? Why, if a muslim killed you, you’d not only be a martyr, but you’d go to heaven with your man jesus.

look, all of these religions are based on the claims of men and each one claims that it is the only one. Such claims have led to many of the divisions and alienations we have today.

some guys said that a 33 year old man, born of a virgin, was the son of god, that he died for everyone’s sins as long as they believed he was the son of god. they also claimed that after he died, that he rose from the grave and flew into heaven with the promise that he’d return soon…

all you have provided as evidence for this tale is:

    1) martyrs, even though every religion and many non-religions have them.

    2) our very existence – which no one knows how that started, but even if you must land on god(s), you must go back to that book of claims to get to jesus.

    3) there were miracles, but as it turns out, those dont happen today, and end up being more claims by the same men who claim they speak for god.

    4) the fulfilled prophecies we’ve discussed weren’t really prophecies at all, or had to be viewed so figuratively that it’s difficult to show anything precise about them other than location (maybe) in order to claim they’re actually fulfilled.

    5) 40 authors taking 1500 years to write the bible. But there’s nothing miraculous about men writing books, editing books, and being inspired to write a book or letter after reading an older book.

you may be looking for truth, but you wouldn’t accept any of the above as evidence for anything else. I’m looking for truth too – we all are, and This isnt credible evidence – it’s one reason nate hasnt bothered entertaining your question (which you still have clarified) regarding which religion has the most credentials.

they’re all goofy and they all lack credibility when you really look at them. you refuse to look, so then objectively, you should realize that you are incapable of speaking intelligently on the subject when you refuse to look at sources and consider books others have offered.

you’re arguing out of ignorance and stubbornness.

Of course, you’re a liberal… those radical Muslims who kill people and want to establish a caliphate are nothing compared to us violent Christians.
