  1. And Gliese, I’ve never stated I don’t believe in evolution.. it’s macro evolution that I don’t agree with.. we have no proof.. and if I’m going to believe that we were once pond scum, I’d like proof of that.. ~ Kathy

I’ve said this before, but I think we need to try and think through evolution in small steps rather than focusing on the huge difference between small organisms and humans.

it’s much easier to believe, without proof, in a Creator Who loves us. It’s much easier and makes much more sense that there is meaning and purpose behind our existence.

It would be easy to say and believe anything, like that life was planted on earth by aliens, but I don’t think that’s a good method of finding truth. If I said.. “I want my life to have purpose so we must have been put here for a reason.” All I would be doing is basing my beliefs on my desires. I think it would be great if there was a Creator who loves us, but what I really want to know is if there actually is one or not.

  2. oh, yes, I’m learning a lot here, too. the giraffe thing was fascinating,

but, please don’t let Kathy fool you, I can vouch she has asked these questions:

“Where did the dna come from to form a wing or an eye?”, “He conveniently starts out with light sensitive cells.. where’d they come from?”, “Why does life fight to survive? What is the cause of that drive that all of evolution is based on?”

countless times and has received the answers every time she asks, it isn’t like she hasn’t been made aware of the facts and how to go about and look up the facts.

arch is right on, Kathy expects you to read it and write it down for her and she is still going to tell you that you are wrong because you have a moral issue with your “pride”.

it happens in all of the cases, over 6 years, literally hundreds of times.
it is nothing but a game Kathy plays to make her feel superior to the liberals

and no one should forget, Kathy is a member of a nationally recognized hate group.

    she hates you,

but continue on with interesting discussions and all the Kathy bashing that she deserves. lol

  3. “The separation of church and state doesn’t mean “the government cannot favor religion over non-religion,” Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia argued during a speech at Colorado Christian University on Wednesday, according to The Washington Times.”

except the american constitution doesn’t say, “separation of church and state,” it says, “The government shall make no law concerning religion.”

The thing is, teaching any type of religion in schools breaks this and will be counter to someone’s beliefs. Not all Christians believe in the same Christianity or notion of of creation. Teach what you want (faith and theology) in your church, without fear of persecution or restriction, and teach what is known and supported (observable) by science in schools.

Kathy, this isnt really fair and is just a guess on your part. How does having money mean you trust in it? How does losing money mean you dont trust it anymore?

Couldn’t Neuro have just been fortunate or smart enough to make that much money, but trusted in it no more that a ditch digger who made minimum wage? If that ditch digger was a christian and someone stole his savings, would he have no right to be upset over that?

Earlier, you seemed upset that Obama made it harder for you to get welfare. I guess you trusted in that until it was taken from you?

But what does god do for you anyways?

  6. Just for the record, i’m no fan of abortion. I mean, I see exceptions for the life of the mother, etc, but I typically side with preserving human life, especially innocent human life.

and since this may allude to this somewhat I’ll toss in that when i was a christian, the sect i was part of didnt believe in original sin. So children were innocent. It was just that all men eventually sin at some point. It was one of those, “you dont have to sin, but everyone will anyways” type of things.

I’m not an advocate either way regarding abortion and I am not militant or belligerent over it.

Since the comment came up, i figured I’d just hare this little bit.

  7. A child dies from starvation every 5 seconds.

A woman dies from pregnancy and child-birth complications every 90 seconds.

Children are more likely to die within 1-2 years of their mothers’ death.

    What’s more pro-life?

    Pro-choice or pro-birth?

I agree with you, William. I think that people conflate being pro-choice with being pro-abortion. I am not at all pro-abortion. I haven’t heard anybody advocating that abortion should be some milestone to attain. I do believe that it should be each couple’s/woman’s right to decide what is best in her given situation. But I am more of a proponent of safe sex and contraception. Prevention is worth an ounce….

  9. NEuro, Ruth,

Yes, I agree. I will add that I do lean more toward the notion that the unborn human should be treated more like a human child. There are differences, and again, for life to the mother, etc, i can see justification for abortion. There may even be other scenarios that i would see it being justifiable.

But to those who simply don’t want the burden of children or whatever else, i see abortion as no different that placing a new born in a dumpster or parents who kill their toddlers for the same reasons.

and again, i do not and will not picket abortion clinics, or advocate harm on those who have abortions, but life shouldn’t be treated so trivial my opinion. We have laws, and I am glad we do, that protect human life – and in my mind, an unborn human life is a human life.

and I recognize my opinions arent the end all be all – until I finally take the world under my complete control. we’ll just wait for that grand day.

  10. Prevention…”

I concur. The more religious a community is (and Supreme Court Justices) the least likely sex education will be made available or universal contraception.

“Providing teenage girls with affordable access to long-lasting contraception, like intrauterine devices (IUDs), can cut their rates of unintended pregnancy and abortion by more than 75 percent, according to a new study published in the New England Journal of Medicine on Wednesday. The data suggests that teens can effectively prevent pregnancy when they’re educated about their full range of sexual health options.”

Another study was done this year showing that sexual promiscuity does not increase with universal contraception.

“Critics of free birth control programs have previously suggested that giving women free contraception will encourage them to engage in more risky sexual behavior. But a new study published in the journal Obstetrics and Gynecology finds that this is not the case.
