  1. Kathy, if I agreed with you that I should obey God today, what would be the first thing I should do (after renouncing my new-found lesbianism, of course)?

Kathy, thank you for proving all our point that you have no clue. You don’t understand satire and sarcasm, or are you purposely being obtuse (another word that you do not understand)?

Well, if she hasn’t.. it sure sounds like she’s thinking about it. Are you claiming that only people who are born that way choose ss partners?

  5. I certainly believe that some people are “born with it,” – a male embryo that receives too much estrogen from its mother will present with more feminine characteristics as a child, while a female, receiving too much testosterone, will exhibit more masculine qualities.

But I think that it will ultimately be found that there are a variety of reasons, rather than a single one in all cases. Children imitate the most dominant member of their family – a boy may imitate a dominant Mother, especially if he has a weak or absent father, as a girl may imitate a dominant father if her mother is submissive or unassertive.

Childhood sexual abuse, coupled with the Stockholm Syndrome, can influence sexual orientation.

And studies done with rats have shown that in overcrowded conditions, male rats will exhibit homosexual behavior, which disappears when the population is thinned – so keep on pushing for population increase, Kathy – homosexuals will love you for it, if you know what I mean —

Kathy, many of your TV Evangelists have secretly done what others do publicly. Jim Bakker had homosexual relationships with other men. How about Ted Haggard !!! John Wesley Fletcher.

“Yale scholar John Boswell has argued that a number of Early Christians entered into homosexual relationships,[79] and that certain Biblical figures had homosexual relationships, such as Ruth and her mother-in-law Naomi, Daniel and the court official Ashpenaz, and David and King Saul’s son Jonathan” (wiki)

I’m making no claims here. Honestly doesn’t bother me whether they are born with it or they choose to do it.

What is more troubling is that you failed to see that she is NOT going to be lesbian but is saying it out of jest (e.g. sarcasm/joke) as a response to the SCOTUS malarkey.

I’m not sure why I am replying you even. Explaining jokes is extremely painful to me. Go watch Monthy Python, or Colbert Report, or anything by John Oliver.

    Alternatively, go get a clue.

  8. You’re trying to imply, Kathy, that people have free choice whether or not to be interested in a member of the same sex. Tell me, can you imagine yourself having sex with another woman? If your answer is no, is it because you would really LIKE to have sex with another woman but CHOOSE not to? Or is it because you were born with an interest in males, and none for females?

Personally, I’ve never had the slightest interest in sex with another man – I was born with an interest in girls, and I’ve been chasing them since 2nd grade. It would be equally possible for a man to be born withOUT an interest in girls, but then that would mean your god screwed up, wouldn’t it?

I’m not sure what your point is.. it seems you are agreeing with me?

As for those people in the Bible, you are wrong, you’re confusing close relationships with sexual ones. These claims are just another attempt by liberals to rewrite the Bible.

I’ve acknowledge that people can be born with their preference, and I also believe that people can acquire an interest.. there’s no reason to believe otherwise.

And I also believe that God didn’t mess up, but humans did by deviating & acquiring and then passing that along in their genes. I believe learned behavior can be passed along in our genes.

Have you heard of the Kinsey scale?

  11. I believe learned behavior can be passed along in our genes.” – so you’re saying there’s a “gay gene.” Do you ever think before you speak, or do you just open your mouth and let everything out that wants to, come out?

I explained very carefully how the gene for longer necks in giraffes allowed giraffes with longer necks to survive during droughts, to pass on that gene to their offspring. Please tell me how a gene for gayness could be passed on to a gay man’s or woman’s offspring – how many offspring does the average gay person have?

  12. Well if that doesn’t make me want to get into a pair of my comfortable shoes,, hop into my Subaru, and drive off to Vermont! I might have to call my lesbian bodybuilding friend to tell her SCOTUS has turned me into a lesbian. I can hear her laughing now.

Same sex couples have been able to get married in NH for years now. I am not truly anywhere else along the sexual orientation continuum than I was before the court decided to not hear the cases. I am afraid, Kathy, that you suffer from HDD, a very serious ailment. Humor Deficit Disorder seems to strike evangelical Christians often, and it is always sad to see.

I know that you believe you will be with your Heavenly Father when you die, but I don’t think I will. I will simply go back to what I was before – nothing. In this insignificant amount of time we have to live and have consciousness, I am choosing to live, laugh, learn, love… all the ‘L’ s! I have known great suffering, the likes of which can leave some people broken for life. In spite of that, I laugh a lot. I do try to not be too sarcastic, but it is too tempting sometimes.

In your honor, Kathy, I will bring laughter to some of the people with whom I will work today. I have one patient whose apartment reeks of urine and forgotten dreams. I won’t bring him Jesus, but I will treat him with respect and try to help him have a little better quality of life. I will bring a smile into the sadness of his dark basement apartment. To whom will you bring comfort today, Kathy? I don’t think I’m a hero – I will be just doing my job, godless heathen that I am.

When I go into an affluent home, which I often do, I will try to bring that same smile, no matter how arrogant and dismissive the occupants may be. I will practice being nonjudgmental and having acceptance the best that I can. I will try to laugh with them as much as I can.

I won’t be any more of a lesbian than I was before. I will be grateful that I have a sense of humor and can actually make a difference in people’s lives through action instead of whatever you call what you are doing here.

  14. Kathy, are you saying that if it weren’t for you belief that homosexuality is wrong you’d “choose that option?” Most homosexuals aren’t “choosing that option”. Approximately 10% of the world’s population are homosexual. That number will not increase because of the legalization of gay marriage. That’s an asinine assertion. Those people who are already gay may “choose the option” of getting married instead of just living together, but it won’t make more people become gay.

Aren’t you tired of being naive and ignorant? Aren’t you tired of condemning people just because they’re different from you? Aren’t you absolutely exhausted of telling people how to live?

Live your life the way you see fit. Let others do the same.

  15. I’m tired of seeing how liberalism is really taking hold.. so many people who don’t understand no matter how much rational you present them with. No one cares about what is right.. only being right themselves and doing as they please apart from their Creator. It’s that same old pride.. again and again and again. – Kathy

Kathy, you sound a bit frustrated in your recent comments. If you want to make a difference here I would suggest you stop talking down to us like we are all ignorant. If you have some wisdom or knowledge that you think no one else here has, than share it with us.

I’m going to take your side on the population issue. I don’t think the earth is overpopulated. If humanity is going to flourish in the next few million years I think we are going to need a few more Einsteins to come along and break down some barriers for us. We need to figure out how to manipulate matter at the atomic level. I think we need a biotech revolution so we can colonize other planets and make available resources more useful. If we had a flourishing colony on mars and the earth got smacked with a comet that killed everyone we would at least be able to re-colonize the earth at some point. Mars might not look that great right now, but I think we could make it look pretty nice given enough time and the ability to atomically restructure it’s resources.

  16. Kathy,

    you said,

“Again, obeying God is what is best. He’s the Creator of all.. He’s smarter than us. I know that offends your ego, but sorry, it’s the truth.. and I probably just offended u again.. I know how liberals hate the truth… oh well, u just can’t win with liberals. :(”

If we knew exactly what the actual ‘creator of all’ wanted, we may be able to discern as to whether you’re right or not.

I realize there are a lot of smarter people than me, so if there was a supreme creator being, I would not be offended in the least.

The thing is, what you’re referring to as “god” or “god’s word” is a group of writings from various people who claim to speak for this alleged, invisible and silent all-powerful creator being.

It’s not ego, it’s believably and credibility.

And I wouldn’t know about all liberals, but the truth should hold up. Should we seek truth with firm and dug in presuppositions, or should we seek it where ever it starts and where ever it leads us?

Dave, I’m fascinated by this topic and think it’s our future. We’ve constructed this artificial world for ourselves that allow us to live longer by making resources more available and by combating disease, etc. In so doing, we’ve created other problems to solve, like population growth vs farmland and produce, etc – not to mention the everyday pollution from the things we use to live these days.

mars needs a magnetic field in order to build up any meaningful and lasting atmosphere and that can protect the planet (and its atmosphere) from the radiation of the solar winds and whatever else.

Somewhere i read about an artificial means to construct a magnetic field. I think what I read actually suggested wrapping mars in wires that would create this magnetic field with electricity.

one day, i think they’ll figure it all out.

if overpopulation really started becoming an issue, our “civilized” nature would devolve into our baser warlike manner. We want o survive. If there’s plenty to go around, cool – if not, survival of the fittest.

  18. Kathy,

I guess I dont know every person, so i cant comment very well about everyone, but I am like arch, in that I have never been attracted to males. I’ve been attracted to females. I cant help that desire. It’s not a choice, not for me, not at all.

While I can train myself to not be sexually aggressive toward women and while I can make myself celibate, i could not make myself to be aroused toward men. having a desire and acting on a desire are different.

You mentioned that gay people reproduce – they do. Could be that the religious people who try so hard to repress homosexuality actually are the ones who keep it around. many homosexuals grow up believing they’re sinful and marry someone of the opposite sex to keep from sinning, thinking that simply having sex will cure their wicked desires…. and then it doesn’t, because they cant hep that they’re so attracted to same sex.

They end up passing their genes along because they’re trying to be chrsitians (or whatever other religion). If they were let be, they may not pass their genes on.

let me say now, just to avoid any hurt feelings, that I am not speaking on breeding out homosexuality, or anything like that, i’m just trying to appeal to the logic of a religious mind.

Exactly. It’s been said so many times on these threads, but it bears repeating. Simply, I did not give up Christianity because I was questioning God, but rather because I felt the authors of the Bible were misrepresenting God.

Simpler still, questioning human writers and their motives / intentions is not the same as questioning God.

There is plenty to go around now, yet a child dies from starvation every 5 seconds. We live in cultures that glamorize alpha male-ism. Even the most popular gods are alpha males. Monkey see, monkey want. Monkey will even give up a cherry juice reward to see view images of dominant males.

As I mentioned before, we’ve seen this behavior among baboons and chimps, where the alpha males hoard the resources and rarely share them, and the dynamics of their culture did not change until most of the alphas died after eating tainted meet. Then there was cooperation and cohesion.

If we are going to colonize on other planets, we had better not go the insanity route that Einstein spoke about — doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results.
